The Scribes Women were too fast and too strong for a inexperienced Richmond RFC side, with the hometown team from East Vancouver cruising to a 57-12 victory on Saturday.
Bench strength proved to be a major asset for the Scribes in this match, with a number of fresh players injecting pace and energy throughout the match, while a weary Richmond side had to rely on a sparse group of replacements in this 10 v 10 encounter.
Scribes Coach Cass Dudzic was pleased by the performance of several new Scribes players who played significant minutes, while also gaining important experience and confidence in this early season encounter. That experience will eventually prove vital for Scribes, whether they choose to pursue another Division 2 title or move up to Division 1 in 2020.
The Women will aim to make it two wins in a row when they return to the field on October 5 in Langley.
The Scribes Men did not have an opponent on Saturday, but made use of the occasion to improve fitness and skill with a high-energy training session. Their next match is scheduled for September 28 against SFU on campus.
