MEN: Following their bye week, the Scribes Men’s Team returns to Rupert Park this Saturday for a match against Burnaby Lake Rugby Club.
Scribes have been in good form lately, with their defense holding shape under pressure from two of the league’s top sides in the form of Surrey and Rowers. Regrettably, small miscues led to opposition scores in each of those outings, and made the difference in otherwise even matches.
“The boys are playing well enough to win,” said Scribes Captain Brian O’Regan. “We just have to work a bit harder in the latter stages and make sure the breaks go our way this time around.”
Scribes last met Burnaby Lake back in September, and on that occasion a dominant Lakers scrum led to far too much possession and a lopsided result. Scribes will need to do much better in the pushing contest this Saturday in order to deny their opponents so many quick strike scoring opportunities.
Kickoff at Rupert Park is set for 12:45pm.
WOMEN: The Scribes Women’s Team are in third place of the Women’s Division 2 standings and find themselves within striking distance of second-place Ridge Meadows Bruins.
Scribes will be looking to extend their current winning streak to three games when they travel to the Fraser Valley on Saturday to face Langley RC.
When the two sides last met in January, Langley had few answers to Scribes’ dynamic and varied attack, with the final result favoring Scribes 44-0. Since then, Langley have been sidelined for almost four weeks, owing to an opponent default and a couple of bye weeks, and they will be eager to produce a strong effort this Saturday at home.
Kickoff at Crush Crescent is scheduled for 11:15am.
