Girls Can Rugby

This Sunday, March 6, 2022 the Scribes RFC are hosting, along side BC Rugby, a Girls Can Rugby day. This event aims to encourage females, female identifying, and non-binary folks to discover the fun sport of rugby. The event is non-contact. There will be food and fun rugby swag available to participants. The event is happening across BC and more information can be found on the BC Rugby website: https://bcrugby.com/girls-can-rugby/. Pre-registration is available on the BC Rugby website or feel free to show up the day of with cleats or runners and water.

Women’s Div 1:

Scribes v. United – February 26, 2022

The women made their first trek to the valley for a long awaited match up against United. While half of our squad nursed injuries we had some newcomers and old gals step up to the plate and absolutely smash it out of the park. Big Whit came out and scored two massive tries, Elyce per usual walked over people like it was her day job – winning best forward, another text book try by Val – winning her best back. And last but certainly not least, Didi coming in hot with a blocked kick at United’s 22 scoring a thrilling try after the ball beautifully rolled into the try zone. Scoring four massive tries also gave the women a bonus point. Both teams were very evenly matched and a win was within our grasps but alas, some young speed on the wing soon won us over. The road to finals continues with a matchup against Burnaby Lake this week. Bring it on!

Men’s Div 3:

Scribes v. Burnaby Lake – February 26, 2022

It was a tough day at the office for our men’s side last weekend but a character building game. Short on players and up against a fully stocked Burnaby side was always going to be a task, to the guys’ credit they dug deep and finished the game stronger than they started. It was a back and forth second half but no doubt there will be plenty of areas to work on back at training. It was great seeing all the sideline support for the squad which really drove them on in a tough game.
