Before we jump into this weekends games we should mention what a great weekend of rugby it was last week. It was wonderful to see so many alumni on the sidelines (and back at the clubhouse!) and they were treated to some great rugby on a beautiful sunny day.
Now onto this week, unfortunately the men’s Div 3 game has been postponed but the Women’s Div 1 and Men’s Div 2 teams will be taking on SFU up on the hill. It’s a big match for both teams with playoffs just around the corner.
We have some exciting weeks ahead for the club, not only on game days but also on the social side. Vancouver 7s is just around the corner and we’re very happy to say that old bulls vs young bucks is back on the radar! Stay tuned for more info.
Best of luck to both teams this weekend, see you on the hill!
Game Report – Men’s Div 2
The boys came into this game against United having learnt a couple of tough lessons the week prior and it showed early. A much improved defensive effort kept United at bay in the opening stages and after a strong goal line stand the Scribes were able to launch some attacking raids of their own. A penalty goal from Murphy along with CJs solo try against the run of play helped build a first half lead.
It was much of the same in the second half as the Scribes continued to find points and began to take command of the game. Attack and defense were both in sync and the boys used their opportunities to full advantage. Spreading the ball wide on a sunny day proved a treat for Paddy who found himself a try scoring double in the second half.
Another lesson was learned in the final minutes however as the Scribes put the cue in the rack with a handful of minutes left, letting in two late tries. Despite the late shut off it was ultimately a comfortable win at 36 -10.
Game Report – Women’s Div 1
Another sunny rugby Saturday was upon us and the Scribes were feeling fresh and eager for another match up against United RFC. There were moments of scrambling but tries were quickly scored by the likes of Victoria, Sarah, Steph the double jointed Gazelle, and Becca. Vanessa fearlessly led kicks for a few sneaky conversion points. And in the end we came out with an exciting win which is fuelling us for an awaited matchup with SFU.
