Div 3 Kelowna Report & 7s Activities

It’s official, our women’s Div 1 and men’s Div 2 squads are headed to playoffs! On the 23rd the women head to Cowichan for a rematch while our men will take on Surrey the week following.

We are getting into the business end of things now, not only are playoffs here but the Scribes end of year banquet/awards is just around the corner as well. Full details to be released soon but save the date as May 28th.

As the regular season ends we should also take a moment to acknowledge what a great job our 3rds have done this year. They have stepped up time and again to help the 2nds and they have done it all with a smile on their face. We’ve had a great bunch of new guys join the club this year and we’re excited to build on this for next season.

Match Report – Men’s Div 3

It was a mighty turnout in Kelowna to watch the Div 3 squads final game of the season. With the sidelines roaring the boys found themselves building an early lead only for Kelowna to find some counter attack in the late stages of the half. It was back and forth rugby and the guys went into the break down 19-17.

Unfortunately the second half saw Kelowna pull away as they found fresh legs and chanced their running game. Still the Scribes continued to press and we’re able to able to snag another try right at the death. By this stage all eyes were well and truly on the boat race (which we won!) ahead along with the evenings court session. Top moments from the match included Batty folding someone in half, Leo losing a tooth, Marcus bagging a try and Scotty bombing one (sorry Scotty!)

The 28th is shaping up to be a big day as we’re also using this opportunity to bring back another event. The overs/unders game. We’ll be scheduling an earlier game to allow people time to get all fancy and head to the awards later that evening. Bragging rights went to the young bucks last time, will they back it up again or do the old bulls still have a few tricks left up their sleeve?

Add the event to your calendar: Scribes end of season google calender.
