Celebrating 50 Years of Scribes Rugby

Scribes past and present gathered on Saturday for an evening of stories, memories and revelry.

The crowd of more than 200 players and supporters, some of whom had traveled from far flung locales across Canada to be there, packed the auditorium above the Legion on Commercial Drive.  They were treated to a number of emotional speeches from Scribes legends like Greg Cranston and Pat Bierne, in addition to a series of video tributes from Quent Brown and others. All spoke about the club’s rich history of achievements, misdeeds, and unforgettable moments.

Dinner was wonderfully catered by Jamie Avantini’s team at The Butler Did It, and drinks came courtesy of four kegs donated by Oliver Glaser’s Boundary Brewing Co.

After dinner, the annual awards ceremony was emceed by current club President, Marcus Treacy, with famous Scribes from the club’s storied history presenting the award tankards to this year’s winners.
