Week 2 Preview: Women Battle Bruins, Men Home to Burnaby, Minis Host Try Rugby Day

WEEK #2

Scribes Women:

The Women’s Team begins their season this Saturday on the road against the Ridge Meadows Bruins.

The group has been working hard in training and there is a strong returning core group of players from last season, plus some new faces who will add energy and skill to the team setup.

It should be a fantastic match between these two competitive sides. Kickoff at Thomas Haney Secondary in Maple Ridge is tentatively scheduled for 10am. The roster is yet to be announced.

Scribes Men:

The Men’s Team returned home from Kamloops with tired bodies and no points for the standings table. They will need to regroup quickly as they face another strong challenge this coming Saturday when they host Burnaby Lake RC. The Lakers rolled to a 41-12 win over SFU in Week #1, and the Scribes will need to play smart, tactical rugby to overcome Burnaby’s strong forward pack.

Boosting the Scribes chances will be a boisterous supporting contingent, as the home opener always draws fans and alumni alike out to John Hendry Park. Saturday is expected to be warm and sunny, and it should be a great day down at the park in East Vancouver, followed by social revelry at the Legion on Commercial Drive.

Kickoff is set for 12:45pm. The Scribes’ rosters is below.

Scribes Minis:

Kids and youth of all ages and skill level are invited to Try Rugby with Scribes this Sunday, September 17th, at John Hendry Park / Trout Lake.

The event is free to attend, and will present a great opportunity to learn about rugby, practice passing and kicking the ball, and get some outdoor exercise.

Scribes Try Rugby Day runs from 10am to 12 noon.

Scribes youth and minis teams will also be training at the same time, so it should be a busy and spirited event.

The club is still looking for volunteers to assist. If you able to step forward, please email thequill@scribesrfc.com.
