Scribes RFC update. Sept 30

The women’s rugby team traveled to Surrey last weekend. We had 18 players turn up for the game and ended up playing 12 a side. Scribes went up 5-0 in the first period of play with a try from Steph. The game went from end to end, but remained 5-0 for the next 30 minutes. Maria scored to make it 10-0 with just 15 minutes remaining. Surrey came back and scored right off the kick off and came back into the game, but Scribes still let 10-7. Steph picked up a loose ball, pinned the ears and made a break for the corner. The kick just missed the uprights and Scribes won 15-7.

The Men’s rugby team hosted Ridge Meadows at Trout Lake. David opened the scoring with a penalty and Ryan used his local knowledge to avoid crashing into the tree in the In goal area to add another 5 points. David slotted another penalty in what was supposed to be last play of the half. Brian scored mid way through the second half. Scribes were leading by 2 points in the dying seconds of the game, but managed to clinch defeat from the jaws of victory. Scribes lost 19-16.
