Week 8 Preview: Last Game Before the Break

Scribes Men vs SFU
November 24, 2018
Gordon Park, East Vancouver
Kickoff at 12:45pm

Exactly twelve months ago, with heavy rain pouring down and mud underfoot, Scribes hammered SFU by a score of 38-0 to close out the Fall rugby season. They’ll be hoping for a similar result again this Saturday to round off the 2018 Fall campaign.

Through seven games, both Scribes and SFU sit at 3 wins and 4 losses, with SFU narrowly ahead in the standings on bonus points. Scribes probably have the edge in the forward pack, but SFU will be dangerous if they can get the ball out wide and into the open spaces. The students have been averaging almost twice as many points scored per game compared to the Scribes, but the soggy conditions should favor the savvy veterans on home field. A Scribes victory would move them up to third place in Pool B, so it’s all to play for.

Grab your wellies and go support the lads this Saturday.

Congrats to the Scribes Women who finished the Fall rugby season in first place! The ladies played amazingly well through all eight games, losing only once. They will enjoy a well deserved break and then get back onto the field in the new year with the standings reset, and everyone gunning for the reigning BC Division 2 Champs.
