What a weekend it was for the Scribes. From what we can gather it was the first time in club history we have fielded 2 men’s teams and the women’s team on the same day. On top of this we had our U7’s, 9’s, 11’s and 13’s competing at the minis jamboree while our U15’s took on Squamish. All this was going on while we also hosted a girls rugby tourney at Gordon Park.
Thanks to everyone who helped out on the day and to all our members for making this such a great season so far.
Game reports from last weekend:
Womens
The women faced off against the Rowers this weekend. They were hungry for a win after falling to the Rowers in an exhibition game in September. With a newfound intensity the women defeated the Rowers 31-7. Elyce scored four tries and Carolina scored her first try of the season. Steph stepped in as the team’s new kicker and cemented her spot with a 75% success rate. Also, shout out to Valerie and Kelsey who were named players of the match.
Mens
Division 2
This past weekend at the Division 2 men’s game Surrey Beavers were unable to dam the flood the Scribes poured over their try line. From the offset the Scribes managed to set a decent pace and momentum that continued well into the second half not conceding one try throughout, Especially impressive were the players that played not only one but two matches back to back. Final score 45-0 Scribes
Division 3
The division 3 men’s team kicked off against Brit Lions earlier that day, unfortunately it was not the same result. The Brit Lions were a much stronger team having demoted themselves from division 2 the season before however that did not stop this new team from managing to get a try in behind their defensive line. The team showed great promise in formation and besides the outcome this was a good game to play & watch.
