The Scribes are a rugby club located in East Vancouver. We are currently fielding one 3rd division side.
The regular season has ended but there is lots going on during the summer months. Come out and play touch on Wednesdays at 6:30pm @ Trout Lake (John Hendry) rugby field--NE corner of Trout Lake.
Mandatory beers afterwards at the Scribes Lounge (above the Legion on Commercial & 6th).

International rugby comes to East Vancouver!
Glynneath RFC of Neath in Wales are touring to Vancouver and we are playing them this Wednesday (June 29) at Trout Lake. The game starts at 6.30pm.
We are looking for players, so bring your boots…it will be rolling subs.
We will be hosting them at the Lounge after the game. Please come out and support this event.

Vancouver Parks Board have decided to close Trout Lake as it is water logged. Burnaby Lake have kindly let us use one of their fields.

If you’re taking transit it’s a 13 minute walk from Sperling Skytrain station.
We can use the showers out at Burnaby after.

As the clubhouse is sold we’re planning on having a big party there…old Scribes, new Scribes and friends only.
This will be epic, but will not be a destruction party. This takes place Saturday May 4th. Purple Jesus will be making a comeback. Details to follow.

Scribes Summer Tournament Aug 3rd
The Scribes RFC of East Vancouver invite you to a weekend of rugby, fun and shenanigans in Canada’s smallest city Greenwood BC in beautiful Boundary Country August 3-5.

Big rugby game against the Kats this weekend. This is an important game–if we beat them and then SFU we can make the playoffs. Players meet at the clubhouse on Commercial & 14th for an 11.20am departure or at the field by 11.45am. Kick off at Balaclava Park is 1pm.

Transit goes near enough the field so be there in time to warm up.
AGM – the date has been set for Wednesday April 17th at the Lounge. All members are asked to attend. All positions are up for election.

If anyone owns any stuff in the old clubhouse, it must be removed by Apr 8th. There will be a work party on April 13th, to bring the last of the stuff to the lounge and to see what else needs to be sold off.

If you would like the jersey or just the shorts. just sign up. The shorts will be the same as Scribes shorts and will have the logo on it and can be used for next season.

Tough loss last week against Burnaby. The game was a shambles: no posts, blind referee, unlimited subs for Burnaby…Scribes played well however.

Steve Lamont in Centre
Former Scribe to play against the British & Irish Lions?
Aussie boy Steve Lamont played rugby in Vancouver with the Scribes a couple of years back and he could be playing the Lions this summer:
“Steve is in his third season with Newcastle, the first as skipper. He represented NSW Country last year and has his sights set on the Combined NSW/ Queensland Country team to play the British Lions in June.”

Bad loss against the Meralomas last week–a lot to 0. We had a lot of injuries and probably played some of their 1sts and 2nds.
It’s Burnaby this week. The game on tomorrow – the field is open. We’re playing at Winona Park – South Field (on Cambie & 59th) at 1pm. Be at the old clubhouse for 11.30am or the field by 12pm.

We are hosting Burnaby RFC. We are getting food catered for all future home games by The Butler Did It Catering.
All players must bring $10 before our games to pay for their food, and their opposite number’s–this is customary in rugby and something the Scribes want to continue.
As you know, over the last while we have been organizing a combined team for some of the summer 15’s tournament. The Scribes together with Chilliwack, Ridge Meadows & Chuckanut will be known as “Platypus”. A jersey has been designed and has a platypus on the front of it. The back of the jersey will have your name, your number a country flag of your choice.
The first tournament that we will be entering is Maggotfest on May 11th. We will be entering Penticton in June and Williams Lake in early July.
Oliver has designed another jersey for the Scribes for the summer 7’s & 10’s tournament. I will start collecting money and details for this after I get the Platypus 15’s stuff finalized. Talk to Marcus if interested.
