Season Ending Note:
Our Lower Mainland Independent Final was played on Saturday, April 23rd against the Kats RFC at Brockton Oval. There must have been about 150 people out watching what turned out to be a very close, intense and great game. The Kats came out on top 19-10 and they go on to play the Island representative. In what was probably one of the hardest fought games of the season, the Scribes were left trailing the Kats throughout the game by only a few points. The boys in Blue kept up the pressure right until the end when an interception in the closing seconds put the Kats out of reach and ended the game. Ben Tuita had a penalty and a conversion and we scored a penalty try as well. Thanks everyone involved (the players, the supporters and Dave Holmes the coach) for providing us with an excellent season.
The general consensus is that this was one of the best seasons the Scribes have had in recent memory if not ever--undefeated during regular season. The Scribes earned their spot in the final this year, and deserved to win. Every member of the team has put their heart and soul into getting this team to where it is today, and can be proud of every game we’ve played. No matter what our place on the leaderboard, we can all be proud to be Scribes. We play good rugby, we drink cheap beer, and we do it all with a smile. Here’s to all of you, and to a great season.
There will be several tournaments on during the summer months so keep up to date and come out for a game of touch on Wednesdays. Have a great summer.
