We were very sad to hear that Jamie Crawford passed away on September 24 at the young age of 45. Jamie played with the Scribes RFC for many years and volunteered his time to help out at training sessions.

Jamie’s Celebration of Life will be held this Saturday Oct 3rd at our clubhouse (above the Legion on 6th & Commercial) from 3pm. Jamie’s wife, Elissa, has asked Scribes players and friends to attend.
If anyone has any photographs that they would like to share, please send it to Marcus Treacy and we will put it part of the photo presentation.

His family has requested that donations be made to his Spring Sprint Brain Tumour Foundation Memory Page in lieu of flowers. Here is the link to his page:

A moments silence will be observed before the Scribes games this Saturday.

Below is Jamie’s obituary which will be published in the local papers in the coming days:

August 28, 1970 – September 24, 2015
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of our loving Jamie at the young age of 45.
Jamie was born in Ontario to parents Lorna and John and to late grandparents Gladys and Gordon Mayer, to late grandfather Jack Crawford and his grandmother Helen Crawford. Jamie grew up in Halifax, lived in Australia, New Zealand and Vancouver where he met his wife, Elissa.
Jamie’s passion was bountiful and endless – in sports, at work, at home, at all events – he always lived life to the fullest. He touched the lives of so many that two services will be held, one in Vancouver and one in Ontario. A Vancouver celebration of his life will be held at the Scribes Rugby Club (Saturday Oct 3rd). An Ontario celebration of his life will be held on Thur, Oct 8th (This will be a private event).
Jamie participated in the annual Brain Tumour Spring Sprint ( Although this year’s event has passed, in lieu of flowers, donations towards his memory page is appreciated.
