Training resumes this Wednesday evening at 6.30pm at Trout Lake all weather field at the community Centre. The new schedule is expected to be released shortly, with the season kicking off on February 4th. It’s time to burn off the excess pounds that were put on over the Christmas break.
The new Trout Lake community Centre is due to open on January 16th. We will have access to showers after trainings & games once it opens.
There is a referee’s course scheduled for Junuary 21st. New referees are always needed, especially for the high school & junior games. If you have the time during the week, you can get paid for refereeing high school games.
Anyone interested in doing a coaching clinic. Click here for more information.

Great game last weekend. The conditions weren’t ideal, but everyone managed to play really well. Scott got our only try, but some great kicking from Aiden managed to see us hold Burnaby Lake off with a 13 to 10 victory. Mark took some amazing photos again and hopefully they will be up on the website this week.
This weekend we are playing the Kats in the Bowl Final. The game kicks off at 1pm at Bayside in White Rock. We are going to get a bus. More details about leaving times will be sent out later in the week.
Here’s a link to the directions: http://goo.gl/y4nWq

All players are asked to make a big effort to make it to training on Wednesday evening. After training the Lounge will be open for beverages and hopefully everyone can make it back there after training.
Insurance
Anyone is that is playing rugby is expected to have basic insurance, for example BC Carecard. The insurance that we get through our dues, which is mandatory is geared more towards catastrophic injuries.
There is a top up insurance available from Rugby Canada for $7 a year, will pay some extra costs which might not be covered by the MSP such as ambulance, private rooms and it increases the amounts of catastrophic coverages.
If any players have any concerns about the insurance coverage, please let Marcus know.

We are hosting Burnaby Lake in the VRU Bowl semi-final tomorrow at Gordon Park. Kick off has been changed to 11.30am. All players are asked to be at the field by 10.30am. Hope to see plenty of supporters out there for what promises to be a great day…
Grey Cup Final
BC Lions are taking on Winnipeg Bombers in the Grey Cup final this Sunday. We will be showing the game live at the Lounge, kick off is a 3.30pm so we will be open from 2.30pm. Should be a great day and see the Lions bring the cup home.
Scribes Attire
A new batch of golf shirts has arrived. They can be purchased at the Lounge for only $35.
Rugby shorts are available for $20 or free when you pay your full dues.
We are looking at getting track suits for the team. There is a sign up sheet in the Lounge. Once we get the numbers, we will be able to get prices.
Sponsorship
Thanks to everyone that went to Doolins last Saturday for the fundraiser. Doolins has agreed to sponsor us this year so drop in for a pint the next time you are passing.
Tours
We are planning on making a trip to the USA 7’s in Las Vegas in February 2012. Prices etc will be available shortly.
Maggot fest is on sometime in May 2012. It’s been a few years since the Scribes made the trip. Josh is putting the details together at the moment.

After the bye weekend, everyone should be ready for the last game of the regular Fall season. We are hosting Abbotsford at Trout Lake, (now Gordon Park**) kick off is a 11.30am. All players are asked to be at the feld by 10.30am. If we win the game we have a good chance of getting a home semi-final for the VRU Bowl.
**The weather has decided to cause a bit of havoc on the rugby for the weekend. The parks board has decided to close Trout Lake rugby field for the weekend. We are going to play the game at Gordon Park. Kick off remains at 11.30am and all players are asked to be at the field by 10.30am. Map for Gordon Park: http://goo.gl/X54tg

Tickets can be got from Ed or Marcus. Tickets cost $5 and includes a pint of any beer. The party is going to kick off at 7pm.
