Christmas Party and Other News

Well, we lost the playoffs semi final to Brit Lions 17-8. Brit Lions were the fitter team. They topped pool B and are now in the Final against the Kats RFC.

We had a good season of rugby and played some great games. Training continues through the off season until February, when the Spring season starts.

The Scribes Christmas Party is on Wednesday December 17 at the Lounge. Otherwise stay up to date on Facebook: www.facebook.com/scribesrfc. Happy Christmas and see yas in the New Year!

Playoffs Game Away Vs. Delta RFC

Good win last week against Burnaby RFC. The official score was 32-0 but we figured it was 35-0 after we watched the video on Wednesday. We’re now in the playoffs.

This week it’s an away game at Brit Lions/Delta RFC. Kick off at 1pm.
Meet at lounge at 10.45, leaving at 11am sharp or be at the field for 12pm. It’s a fair bit out.

As usual, we like to host well so bring $10 for your food and your opposite number’s.

We had a few injuries last week. Riun’s hurdle injury can sort-of be seen at 4mins 30secs of this video: http://youtu.be/o7-3gz8Dv9M?t=4m30s

Remembrance day – Thanks to the guys that showed up to help out.

Seattle Tour:

Saturday Dec 6th. Marcus will need a deposit of $30 off everyone going by next Wednesday so that we can start booking hotels.
The plan is to have a training session with their coaches (also coaches of USA) followed by a game of rugby. We all know Seattle host really well and sure to show us a good time there. We really want to make this mini tour happen, so the more the merrier (even if you don’t play).

Home Game at Gordon Vs. Kamloops RFC

This week it’s a home game at Gordon Park vs. Kamloops RFC. Kick off at 1pm. Meet at lounge at 11.30 or at the field for 12. Map link: http://goo.gl/lij2Pr

The Lounge will be open early tomorrow for the internationals: England Vs. New Zealand at 6.30am and Ireland Vs. South Africa at 9.30am.

The Mexican
Romel’s send off is on Saturday evening. Make sure you get down to say farewell and have a last drink with The Mexican.

Remembrance day – We need 4 or 5 guys to help the Legion at 9.30am (and throughout the day if possible.
The folks at the Legion have been immeasurably generous to us over the years. They even immortalised us on the side of their building! They never ask for much, just a hand at a few events a year, with of course the most important one being Remembrance Day.

In previous years, we were quite prominent in our support for them at this event, providing a sound system and guys to help set up chairs, etc. The Scribes canopy was also set up to shelter the equipment and more importantly, publicly show our support for them but in the last couple of years, support has waned. It’s time that the Scribes again step up in numbers to support our veterans, neighbors and landlords. If you’re in town, put a shirt and tie on, throw a Scribes jacket over top, help out and share a drink after with the people that have given so much to us! Lest we forget…

Remaining schedule:

08 Nov 2014 Kamloops @ Scribes
15 Nov 2014 Burnaby @ Scribes

Sponsor a Stool
We will be buying a limited number of bar stools to go around our new bar. You have a opportunity to buy a stool for $100 and never go without a seat again in the lounge.
The $100 will get you an engraved name plate to go on the stool and the ability to sit on this stool whenever you like…even if someone else is sitting in it!
If we are over subscribed then a lottery will be held on Wednesday, November 5 where money and attendance are required if you want to sponsor a stool.
