Game at UBC and Other News

We had a hard loss against Kats last week 15-3.

Thanks to all the supporters that came to watch our effort on Saturday it was good to see the sideline full and greater to hear you guys cheering us on. As a team we greatly appreciate all you for us off the field.

Friday Training:
Back to this week, there is a training session tomorrow (Friday). The all weather pitch booking confirmed for tomorrow at 6:30pm.

Game:
This week’s game is against UBC. Kick off at 11:30am at Wolfson Field. Here’s a map link: http://goo.gl/GQijEm

Painting party:
Painting party Sunday October 26 in the house in Surrey.
We need some painting and small upgrades done at the Surrey property on Sunday October 26 – yes this coming Sunday. Plan will be to meet at the lounge at 10am and then car pool out to the property. If we start early we will be done by 1-2.00pm. If you have them bring some paint rollers and brushes and any leftover indoor paint you have. The last work party was a disgrace – only 4 guys showed up! This property is the reason why our dues are so low and what help’s pay for the discounted clothing, equipment & will eventually provide money towards a tour. Game Vs. Kats RFC at Gordon Park

Scribes have a big game this weekend against the Kats Rugby Club. Kick off at 1pm at Gordon Park. Meet at lounge at 11.15am. Everyone to be togged out before 12pm. Emphasis on taking warm up seriously and switching on.
For those going directly to the field (Gordon Park) it’s easily accessible by bus. Be there before 12pm. Map link: http://goo.gl/lij2Pr

We’re hosting back at the Lounge so all players should try to come back after the game. All players bring $10 cash to cover food for your opposite number.

The BC Rugby Union would like to recognize the tragic loss of Cody Kehler, Chantal McLean and Jim Porter with a moment of silence before the start of all games this weekend.
(Jim Porter is Duncan’s father. Duncan has been a member of Scribes for years. Cody and Chantal were killed in a car crash on Monday. Both played for BC u18′s. )

Dues:
There’s been a few new guys coming out to training. Remember that your dues must be paid in order to play on Saturday. Go to http://www.scribesrfc.com/dues/ to pay your dues.

Home Game Vs. Caps A’s & Other News

We had a win last week against Chilliwack. It turned out to be tighter than we would’ve liked…and the boat race was shockingly bad.

This week’s game:
This week we are playing Capilano A’s at home.
1pm kick off. Meet at Trout Lake field at 11.45am. Boots on at 12pm.

Hosting: Everyone should try to make it back to the Lounge after the game. $10 is required from ALL players for food whether they eat or not. This is to cover the other team’s food too, so please bring cash to the game.

It’s a home game this weekend, a big one, so get your friends and family down to the field for support and watch a good game of rugby.

Scribes House – Help Needed
Our house in Surrey needs to be cleaned out and repaired. We need our members to help out as this is a big revenue generator for us and will help us fund a rugby tour later in the year. We need at least 12 people to help out. We are going to meet at the Lounge at 11am on Sunday morning and the club will buy beers and food for everyone afterwards. Any questions, please see Marcus or Tere.

Away Game Against Chilliwack RFC

We had a great win against Richmond RFC last week, winning 52-0. It was a great team performance and we had a few debut scorers shoot the boot.

Next up is an away game on Saturday (Sept. 27) against Chilliwack RFC.
Be at the Lounge (corner of 6th & Commercial) by 10.30am. We seem to be struggling for rides this season and we need as many cars as possible so drivers come by and fill your car. Game starts at 1pm.

*this could also change…

Training:
Mondays and Wednesdays at 6.30pm at the grass area beside the all weather field, moving on to the all weather field as it gets darker. Numbers have been good but we need everyone out.

Registration Dues:
As mentioned, everyone needs to be paid up to play.
Register here: http://www.scribesrfc.com/dues/

Mini Rugby:
Sunday, September 28th is the first Jamboree of the season. This is where all the mini teams meet up to compete against each other in a game style environment. The tournament will be at the Capilano RFC’s home field which is Klahanie park in North Van. Kick off is scheduled for 10:00 so we need to meet at 09:45 to organize and stretch. I will try to attach a map link at the end of the email.

As this is our first year organizing and the numbers aren’t up yet we will be joining other teams who are down players and playing along with their clubs. We will hopefully try to have as many SCRIBES in similar age play with the same club. The Jamborees usually go till 11:30.

All players 5 years and older are eligible to compete if registration is done. I will also add this link in the bottom of the email. If your child is under 5 years we encourage you to still come out and cheer on your fellow SCRIBES. If you were going to bring a friend to training this weekend be sure to let them know that we will be at Klahanie and not Trout Lake.

Scribes Juniors

Anyone got free time during the day to coach Windermere rugby team? It’s the juniors so they actually listen to you and put in the effort. Games are Mondays and Wednesday at 3.45. Training is any other day(s) around similar time. Talk to Gavin Maguire if interested.
